Star of the Month - October 2022 - Luan Smith

This month’s Star is affectionately referred to as “Ms. Austin Bank Bullard”.  Known for her willingness to take on a wide variety of tasks; ability to build lasting relationships with her customers and coworkers; and her quick wit, she is definitely a Star.  We are proud to introduce you to Luan Smith, Loan Assistant and our October Star of the Month.

Luan has been a part of the team in Bullard since coming to work for the Bookkeeping department of First National Bank Bullard in 2000.  When the Austins purchased First National Bank in 2004, Luan stayed through the transition and moved over into the Loan department as a Loan Secretary before moving to her current role in 2006.  “Luan is more than a Loan Assistant,” shares Cindy Cook, VP/Assistant Retail Market Manager in Bullard.  “She is the definition of a team player going above and beyond for each customer that walks through the doors, whether it be with a loan, debit card dispute, notary service or other need.”  She calls each customer by name and many stop by just to see and visit with their friend, Luan.

In addition to helping Bank customers, Luan also serves as the point of contact for Bank employees who are going through the loan process themselves.  Helping others truly motivates her, and if you have ever needed anything from the Bullard office, you probably ended up speaking with her.  A sharp individual, Luan has developed a perceptiveness and understanding making her able to gain customers’ and colleagues’ trust through positive and witty comments. 

Luan is a long-time resident of the Bullard area and graduate of Bullard High School.  She holds an Associate of Arts degree from Tyler Junior College and attended the University of Texas at Tyler where she studied History and English.  She and her husband, Reggie, have one daughter and three grandchildren who bring great joy to their lives.   Luan enjoys reading, traveling - especially to Fredericksburg - and is a member of the Bullard United Methodist Church.
