While some technical aspects of customer service can be trained, there is more often than not a set of soft skills and behavior traits that allow some employees to excel in this area. This month’s Star possesses those essential qualities – empathy, patience, professionalism, and a genuine desire to help others - which have earned him the respect of his coworkers, and their nominations for Star of the Month. We are excited to introduce you to Daniel Torres, Universal Banker in our Emory office, and recognize him as our June Star.
A graduate of Rains High School, Daniel went on to earn his associate degree from Paris Junior College as well as his real estate license from Champions Real Estate School. He joined Austin Bank in March 2020 as a teller in Emory and was later moved to the universal banker position where he assists with additional aspects of customer service.
Daniel is an employee who demonstrates empathy and compassion for his customers. He is patient, understanding, and always willing to take the time to fully listen to a customer’s concerns before helping find the best possible solution. His five years of banking experience have given him a good understanding of the bank’s products, allowing him to help with a large number of requests.
Whether he is helping an elderly customer feel more comfortable using digital banking services or translating for a Spanish speaking customer to ensure they fully understand their options, Daniel consistently goes above and beyond to make customers feel valued, respected, and heard. His ability to build trust and establish meaningful relationships has made him a familiar and welcoming face in the Emory community.
In addition to his outstanding customer service skills, Daniel takes great pride in supporting his coworkers and contributing to the overall success of the office. He is willing to step in wherever needed; assist with training and mentoring new employees; and helps maintain a positive and encouraging work environment.
Outside of work, Daniel enjoys spending time with his wife, Lupita Torres, and their daughter, Mariah. The family lives in Pickton and shares their home with a pet cat. When he’s not busy with friends and family, Daniel enjoys relaxing and playing games on his PlayStation™.
“Daniel is the definition of a team player. We are so thankful for the steady professionalism he brings to the Emory office each day.”
Amanda Atkins, Senior Vice President/Retail Market Manager, Longview Greggton
“Daniel has shown extreme growth and knowledge in his universal banker position. Daniel is always willing to go above his duties to ensure our customers receive the best customer service. Emory customers know he is always here to lend a hand with a smile on his face. Austin Bank could not be more blessed to have this ‘Star’ on our team.”
Shelley Cook, Assistant Vice President/Retail Market Manager, Emory
“Having Daniel serve as universal banker is an asset to the Emory location and Austin Bank. Daniel is a team player and always willing to help in whatever capacity he is needed. He has great customer service skills that he exemplifies daily from greeting customers behind the teller line, to opening new accounts. This is a well-deserved honor for an exceptional team member.”
Jim Mack Taylor, Vice President/Location President, Emory
