Many staffing consultants will tell you that identifying a high-potential employee is not simply about titles, experience, or educational credentials. Instead, four traits consistently rise to the top: a desire to achieve, a problem-solving mindset, initiative, and the ability to influence others. Those same qualities appeared repeatedly in the nominations for this month’s honoree. We are proud to introduce our September Star of the Month, Peyton Hugghins.
Peyton joined Austin Bank in 2022 as a loan document specialist in the central loan department. Eager to expand his knowledge of the lending industry, he moved into a credit analyst role in 2024 before transitioning to his current position as a portfolio manager for the Smith County region in 2025. Based in the Tyler Cumberland Park office, Peyton assists the region’s lenders and loan assistants with managing existing loan portfolios. His responsibilities include monitoring loan relationships, evaluating renewals and modifications, underwriting new loan requests, and assisting with loan closings.
Throughout his tenure with the bank, Peyton has demonstrated a willingness to solve problems - not simply complete tasks. He maintains a positive attitude, readily accepts additional responsibilities, and looks for ways to help those around him. During his time as a credit analyst, Peyton helped train new departmental employees and created tools that future analysts could use. “Through his personality and work ethic, Peyton showed other analysts how to be better employees,” shared Kim Raney, SVP/Credit Analyst Department Manager. “Now in his new role, he continues to help and support our department.” Peyton also has a natural curiosity. He asks thoughtful questions, welcomes opportunities to learn, and applies that knowledge to better serve his coworkers and customers.
Peyton and his wife, Cheyanne, currently live in Bullard, though he grew up in Troup. An accomplished golfer, Peyton played on his high school team, advanced to the state level multiple times, and earned a state title. He is also an avid sports fan - especially when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys.
