March 2022 - Star of the Month - Josie Chaffins

Ray Croc, American businessman from the 1950s said, “If you work for just money, you’ll never make it, but if you love what you are doing and you always put the customer first, success will be yours.”  This quote perfectly sums up this month’s Star and her consistent drive to serve her customers in the best manner possible.  We are proud to announce that Josephine (Josie) Chaffins, Teller Operations Supervisor in Palestine, has been selected as our Star of the Month for March.

Josie began her career with Austin Bank in 2006 as a Teller.  “Josie exemplifies the perfect employee with high standards, morals and a very positive attitude,” shares Geri Lynn Wright, VP/Relationship Manager in Palestine.  “She is loved by all, especially her customers.  If she is not here, everyone wants to know ‘where’s Josie?’.”  It is said that Josie excels no matter which department she is in, and the Bank has taken advantage of her leadership.  She served as the Teller Operations Supervisor in Palestine from 2010 to 2016 before transferring to the role of Customer Service Representative for 1 year prior to returning to the Teller line.  As supervisor, she has implemented a rotating training schedule for all of the duties required as a Teller.  This has helped the Palestine office tremendously and provides a guide for each Teller to know what needs to be done and how to do it.

In addition to her leadership in training, Josie also sets a high bar for customer service.  She always puts the customer first, taking the time to truly listen, build rapport with each one and following up with them.  She is well liked by her coworkers and customers and is always willing to help anyone who needs a hand.  Recently instrumental in discovering a kiting situation, Josie took necessary steps to protect the Bank and its customer from loss.  “Josie is never scared to roll up her sleeves and get the job done,” comments Jenny Huddleston, AVP/Retail Office Manager in Palestine.  “She goes above and beyond every day in all areas of the Bank.  She is a great asset to the Palestine team.”

Josie and her husband, Bradley, live in Elkhart with their two daughters, Katy and Ella.  She enjoys camping, spending time with family and gardening.  The couple is a part of the Neches River Runners, a non-profit organization dedicated to conservation and education that provides special needs scholarship funds at Trinity Valley Community College.

“Josie is a true leader in our office.  She goes above and beyond for customers and coworkers on a daily basis.  She is dedicated, reliable, accountable and sets an example for her team.  We are lucky to have Josie in Palestine.”

Jenny Huddleston, AVP/Retail Office Manager, Palestine

“Josie is a very hard worker and strong team leader.  She is respected by both customers and coworkers because of her willingness to go above and beyond to provide excellent customer service.  She sets the example every day and is very deserving of this award.”

Misty Evans, SVP/Retail Market Manager, Frankston

“Many customers have commented to me that Josie is the one that keeps the Teller area running so smoothly and that she is the primary reason they bank with Austin Bank.  I agree 100 percent!  Most of our customers have much more frequent contact with Josie and her employees than any other area of the Bank, which is why she is such a valuable part of the success at Austin Bank – Palestine.”

Brad Anderson, VP/Location President, Palestine
