The Information Technology (IT) team at Austin Bank is critical to our organization and serves as the backbone for operational efficiency, data security, and strategic growth. This team is responsible for ensuring banking systems are available 24/7, protecting sensitive data from cyber threats, and supporting employee productivity by managing technology infrastructure. This month we are pleased to shine the spotlight on a member of this team and recognize Lance Byrnes, Systems Administrator, as our February Star of the Month.
Lance came to work for the bank in 2019 following a career with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). He worked as a system lead and system administrator for various software platforms in his tenure with them. Lance now oversees multiple systems for the bank – literally too many to list – and takes great pride in his work and personal joy in seeing processes run well. His team members praise him for being a wonderful team player and someone who is always willing to step up to a task, perform necessary research, and work to fix the issue at hand. In addition, he is a great mentor and always willing to share his knowledge. Sarah Allison, Computer Support Specialist, shares, “During a casual conversation about where we see our future within the bank, I responded that I would like to become a technician and further my IT knowledge. Lance took it upon himself to start training me on a process the very next day. He is the go-to guy for any issue I have when I’m not sure who to bring it to. He not only teaches you how to do it, but also teaches you to be able to figure out solutions for yourself.” Lance is proactive, reliable, conscientious, and detail oriented, but along with all of that, he also brings levity to the workplace, lightening the mood and keeping things fun.
Lance and his wife, Rachel, live in Bettie and have one son, Lance, Jr. He enjoys practicing marksmanship, billiards, and working on his land incorporating solutions to live off-grid. He is a graduate of Western Governors University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology.
“Lance is known for his dedication to solving complex issues. His attention to detail and strong work ethic have earned him the trust of the IT team and employees across the bank. I am sincerely glad to have Lance on the IT team and know I can count on him to find the right solution – every time.”
John Ory, Senior Executive Vice President/Chief Operations Officer, Longview Greggton
“Lance is an extremely valuable member of our team. He is very diligent when faced with adversity and always finds a solution to any problem he encounters. His attention to detail in all matters results in lowered downtime and increased productivity for the bank.”
Seth New, Vice President/Network Support Manager, Longview Greggton
“Lance is a key member of the technology department. Anything that Lance is working on gets one hundred percent of his attention. This results in systems that are resilient, efficient, and secure. Our department is better for having Lance as a team member.”
Jeff Sowell, Executive Vice President/Chief Technology Officer, Whitehouse
