The history of Austin Bank in Rusk dates back to 1907 with the founding of Farmers and Merchants State Bank which later changed its name to First State Bank, Rusk. The bank was acquired by the Austin family in 1944 and changed its name to Austin Bank in 1996. The current location is recognized as a historical landmark site and was the site of Rusk's first bank.
