by Austin Bank 13. January 2016 14:51

Do you have a coworker who is an “absolute joy” to work with?  Or one whose “work ethic is beyond reproach” inspiring you to be better?  Allow us the privilege of introducing you to one of whom these things, and much more, has been said by more than one person.  This month’s Star has been nominated for her positive attitude, dedication to the Austin Bank team, and level of service to her community.  We are happy to congratulate Shannon Seay, Banking Officer/Special Assets Collector, in Longview Greggton as our January 2016 Star of the Month.

Shannon joined the Austin Bank team in 2007 as a Junior Credit Analyst after receiving a Bachelors of Finance degree from the University of Texas at Tyler and working as a loan processor at a local credit union for five years.  Advancing from Junior Credit Analyst to Credit Analyst II before moving to the Special Assets division and her current position in 2012, Shannon has only added to her abundance of knowledge regarding accounting and banking.  While continuing her studies outside of the Bank, she is always willing to share her knowledge with fellow employees.  “Shannon is an amazing teacher.  I can recall several topics that were difficult for me to understand, but Shannon would provide an example or approach the topic from a different angle and it would finally make sense to me,” shares Cody Bailey, Commercial Lender (former Credit Analyst), Longview Oak Forest.  In addition to helping team members in her own department, Shannon teaches courses through the Training Department for employees Bank wide.

Displaying a passion for her job and commitment to the Bank’s culture, Shannon exhibits a positive attitude at all times, even through challenging circumstances, encouraging those around her.  She takes pride in performing her tasks well, staying late or arriving early to insure a job well done and is always willing to help in any way possible.  Lisa Sampson, SVP/Loan Operations Manager, Longview Greggton comments, “Shannon is a perfect example of a team player.  She is always willing to help out the department with any job, large or small.  I’m proud to have her as part of our team.”

Sharing her organizational skills and knowledge with her community, Shannon serves as Treasurer for the Great Texas Balloon Race, assists in fundraising efforts for Newgate Mission and organizes several community efforts on behalf of the Bank.  She and her four year old daughter, Lily, live in Longview where she enjoys spending time with friends and family (especially in her backyard oasis) and working out.  She is a member of Grace Creek Church.

“Management continuously looks for employees that will stand out in the community and ‘make a difference’.  Shannon is one of those employees as shown by her heart felt contributions to humanitarian projects, community involvement and hard work ethics.”

Rick Waldrop, SEVP/Chief Credit Officer, Whitehouse

“Like so many of our Stars, Shannon is smart, dedicated, confident and consistently exercising good judgement in her decisions.  In her current responsibilities of managing special assets and customers that have filed bankruptcy, she performs her duties with a high degree of confidence.”

Billy Mullins, SEVP/Risk Management, Longview Greggton

“Shannon is a ‘go-getter’.  Her constant desire to grow in her knowledge of her job and the banking industry is clearly shown in her work ethic and work output.”

Cody Bailey, Commercial Lender, Longview Oak Forest
