September 2014 - Star of the Month - Brenda Williams

by Austin Bank 15. September 2014 10:50

Our September Star is an employee known to many throughout the offices for her training and help in the implementation of new programs.  However, despite her 20 year tenure with the Bank, many may still be unfamiliar with her and the unique job she holds.  At this time, please allow us to introduce Brenda Williams, SVP/Special Projects Manager, as our September Star of the Month.

Of the many nominations that were received from her peers, the words “dedicated”, “committed” and “loyal” were repeated throughout.  “Her job as Special Projects Manager is one that involves constant changes and challenges.  Her recent tireless efforts in implementing new mortgage loan requirements is only one example of many situations that have required diligence, long hours and perseverance,” states Keenan Martin, Compliance Officer, Longview Greggton.

With more than 39 years experience in the banking industry, Brenda possesses knowledge of all areas.  She began her career with Austin Bank as a Loan Processor with First National Bank of Whitehouse prior to the merger.  Since that time, she has worked as a Loan Officer, Loan Review Officer, Compliance Officer, and Manager of the Central Loan Documentation department before assuming her current role.  In 2004, Brenda became a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) and graduated SMU’s Southwest Graduate School of Banking in 2013. “Brenda’s vast knowledge includes many areas from operations to lending.  She is always willing to stop her work to help the many employees who call her for assistance – helping them to understand the mechanics of the software or regulation,” shares Debbie Braune, CRA Officer, Whitehouse.

Brenda and her husband, Terry, live in Flint and have one son and two grandsons.  She loves spending time with her family, traveling, boating and gardening.  An active member of the community, she is a Gateway to Hope volunteer and has worked with the American Business Woman’s Association, the Circle of 10, Habitat for Humanity and Boy Scouts of America.  Brenda attends First Presbyterian Church in Tyler, and shares her organizational skills working as a wedding coordinator.  She received the Community Involvement Award from the Bank in 2012 for her work with Gateway to Hope.

“Brenda Williams possesses organizational skills that I would describe as excellent.  She has the intellect, passion and ability to take on a project of any size.  The one trait that makes her most valuable to Austin Bank is her willingness to accept any challenge when asked.”

Billy Mullins, SEVP/Loan Administration and Risk Management, Longview Greggton

“Brenda is one of the most knowledgeable and hardest working bankers I have ever worked with.  She is an encyclopedia of knowledge pertaining to compliance regulations along with federal and state laws.  Her determination to do things right and make it easier for others to do things right is extraordinary.”

Russ Gideon, SEVP/Assistant Chief Lending Officer, Frankston

“With her vast wealth of knowledge, Brenda is an employee we know we can depend on for any answer or solution to a problem.  It is a pleasure to know and work with her . . . she has taught me volumes.”

Susie Hunt, AVP/Mortgage Originator, Palestine

“Brenda is committed to making sure the Real Estate Specialists have the necessary training, knowledge and tools to do our job.  She is one of the most dedicated employees I have had the pleasure of working with.”

Katie Branton, Mortgage Originator, Whitehouse
