December 2016 - Star of the Month - Sandra Burton

by Austin Bank 13. December 2016 16:21

This month’s Star is a long-time member of the Austin Bank family.  Joining the Bank in 1989 with the acquisition of Troup Bank and Trust, she remains committed to her job and coworkers.  It is an honor to recognize Sandra Burton, Executive Administrative Officer in Jacksonville, as our December Star of the Month.

Sandra boasts 42 years of banking experience, spending two years with First Federal Savings in Tyler and the remainder of her tenure with Troup Bank and Trust, then Austin Bank.  Most of that time has been spent as a Loan Assistant or an Administrative Officer.  Before assuming her current role as Administrative Assistant to John Williams, President/CEO, and Russ Gideon, Chief Lending Officer, Sandra assisted Ronny Lee (now a Director) during his term as Bank president.  “She’s such a pleasure to work with and so conscientious with customers, coworkers and her daily work.  I would be lost without her,” shares John Williams.

An exemplary member of the Austin Bank family, Sandra is there to help her colleagues at the drop of a hat.  Described as “a hard-worker who gets to the office early and does not leave until she has completed her all of her tasks efficiently”, other employees use the terms helpful, giving, and a true team player to share her positive attributes.  Dawn DeVillers, Executive Administrative Officer in Jacksonville, also commented that “Sandra is their fashionista.  We cannot wait to see what she is wearing each day.”

Sandra and her husband, Charles, reside in the Concord community outside of Troup.  She attended Jacksonville High School and has completed numerous banking courses throughout the years in addition to the Austin Bank Commercial Lending class.  Sandra delights in spending time with her family.  She has one son and one daughter, both married, and 5 grandchildren.

“Sandra is so deserving of this award.  She is selfless, a real team player and gets along well with everyone.  She shares her compassion for others with a tender heart and a positive outlook.”

John Williams, President/CEO, Jacksonville

“Working with Sandra for 26 years, I am proud to call her my coworker.  She is very dependable, has a strong work ethic and is always willing to help with anything when asked.  I am even more proud to call her my friend.”

Jan Tennison, Executive Administrative Officer, Jacksonville

“Sandra meets every task with a positive attitude and the ability to get the job done right the first time.  She is a person of integrity and loyalty, a true model for the core values of Austin Bank.”

Anita Snider, AVP/Human Resources Development, Jacksonville

“Sandra is an absolute joy to work with!  Her willingness to help others coupled with her kindness, caring and great positive attitude make her a great asset to Austin Bank.  Her organizational skills and mental toughness allow her to handle both John and I on a daily basis.”

Russ Gideon, SEVP/Chief Lending Officer, Jacksonville
