This month’s Star is an employee who has been a member of the Austin Bank family since 2007. In that time, she has shown initiative and the drive to tackle new skills and consistently refine her abilities. These qualities along with her positive attitude, loyalty to employees under her supervision and a dedication to hard work have earned her honors as our April Star of the Month. Congratulations, Katie Branton, Operations Officer/In-House Mortgage Department Supervisor!
Katie began as a Teller in the Tyler Med Center office, quickly showing a desire to progress in her banking career. Steadily moving through the ranks, she has worked as a CSR I, Teller Operations Supervisor, CSR II, Loan Document Specialist, Loan Assistant, and Rural Market Loan Processing Assistant before assuming her current role in the Mortgage Department based out of our Whitehouse office. Her consistent growth and willingness to learn has set her up as the “go-to” person for mortgage questions from lending personnel as well as staff within her department. “Katie has an open door policy for many lenders and loan assistants in addition to the processors she oversees,” shares Lora Hammond, SVP/Mortgage Department Manager. “She never hesitates to step up and take over a file if another processor is out of the Bank.” In addition to her normal duties, Katie also shares her knowledge as an instructor in the Austin Bank Real Estate School.
A story shared by Pam Pate, SVP/Human Resources in Jacksonville, further illustrates Katie’s dedication to her job. After the birth of her son in 2016, Katie returned from maternity leave early so that she would not leave her department short-handed any longer than necessary. Pam notes, “She has a pleasant personality, a positive attitude and a loyalty to her employees and to Austin Bank.”
Katie and her husband, Adam, live in the Concord community outside of Troup. They have one son, Paxton, age 20 months, and two fur babies, Rainey and Riley. Some of her favorite things are Dr. Pepper, Mexican food and the Texas Rangers. Katie is a graduate of Garrison High School and has attended Stephen F. Austin University and Tyler Junior College. She is currently continuing her studies, completing coursework for a Bachelor’s degree in Business. In addition, she has completed the Austin Bank Leadership 1 program in 2015 and is currently enrolled in the Bank’s STAR Program.
“Katie is one of the hardest working people that I know, and leads by example. She is a huge asset to the Bank and the success of the mortgage department is due in large part to her ‘can do’ attitude.”
Lora Hammond, SVP/Mortgage Department Manager, Longview Greggton
“Katie is a ‘go-to’ employee for both the lenders and fellow co-workers when it comes to real estate mortgage loans. She was a key employee in setting up Austin Bank’s In-House mortgage department and her involvement continues to play a large role in its success.”
Rick Waldrop, SEVP/Chief Credit Officer, Whitehouse
“Katie has shown a desire and initiative to grow from the beginning and has continued at a steady pace into the supervisory position she has now. All of my interaction with Katie has been very positive – she is professional, respectful and willing to do whatever she needs to in order to fulfill her responsibilities.”
