April 2015 - Star of the Month - Tara Hughes

by Austin Bank 13. April 2016 08:42

When you receive comments that echo each other it is safe to assume the person they are speaking of exhibits these qualities throughout each aspect of their life, not just in particular circumstances.  Such is the case for this month’s Star.  A “customer favorite” with a following from previous offices and “a true team player” are just a few of the repeated phrases mentioned when asked to describe Tara Hughes, Loan Assistant at Longview Loop.  For these reasons, we are proud to announce Tara as the April Star of the Month.

Tara is a “well-rounded, much liked employee.”  She began her banking career in 2003 as a Bookkeeping Clerk with City National Bank in Kilgore, acquired by Austin Bank in 2008.  And, she has also worked as a Customer Service Representative before moving to her current role as a Loan Assistant, having worked in the Longview Oak Forest office and later Longview Loop in this capacity.  Customers often come to her office seeking Tara’s assistance, insisting she is the only one who can help them.  Though this may add to her workload, Tara never tries to pass them on to another employee.  Many times Tara is the first to greet customers in the lobby, and is always eager to help with whatever need they may have, whether loan related or not.  With her experience in multiple areas of the Bank, Tara takes the initiative to help wherever a challenge arises.  She has even extended the reach of her banking knowledge by teaching Junior Achievement classes to second graders at Pine Tree Elementary.  “Tara’s positive attitude and quick learning ability set her apart from the rest,” shares Donna Bobo, VP/Relationship Manager at Longview Loop.  Striving to always better herself, Tara is currently enrolled in the Bank’s Community Lending School.

She and her husband, John, live in Longview with their daughter, Madison, age 12.  A graduate of Hallsville High School, Tara attended Brown Institute of Court Reporting and Kilgore College.  She is a life-long animal lover, currently sharing her home with four dogs and one cat.  But, she had numerous pets growing up, including a mountain lion at one point.  In addition to spending time with her family and pets, Tara is also a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she sings in the choir.

“Everyone can be great, but Tara strives to be exceptional.  She pays attention to detail and is willing to assist all customers to find solutions.  She is the definition of a team player.”

Jason Petersen, EVP/Regional President, Longview Oak Forest

“Tara has such a positive attitude, sweet smile and goes above and beyond with customers and her coworkers.  She is enthusiastic about her job and willing to help in any area where needed.  The Longview Loop office is fortunate to have her as part of our team.”

Lynnette Martin, AVP/Retail Office Manager, Longview Loop

“Tara is very dedicated and takes pride in her work.  She is one of the best people I have worked with – not only my assistant, but also a good friend.”

Donna Bobo, VP/Relationship Manager, Longview Loop
