Nathan SmokerAs a member of the Austin Bank team since 2003, our January Star has proven himself a loyal, dedicated and committed employee. He is a “coworker who makes everyone’s job easier while making them smile and getting the job done.” We are proud to announce that our January Star is Nathan Smoker, Loan Document Specialist, in the Central Loan Department located in Whitehouse.

Nathan spent the first eight years of his tenure as a Mail Courier in the Jacksonville Main office where he worked as an extra set of hands for many miscellaneous tasks and as backup for the Customer Service Representatives. He moved to CLD in 2011 working in various areas and now serves as the lead in the file room and over scanning. In addition, Nathan has helped with onboarding new vendors and assisting with compliance audits. He is the point person for flood insurance reviews and has taken over full responsibility of flood determination monitoring. Never crumbling under pressure, Nathan maintains an upbeat attitude, sincerity and level-headedness while always being the first to volunteer if there is heavy lifting to do.

Nathan and his wife, Crystal, reside in a farmhouse in Bullard, built in 1906, with their three children. They own a small business where they restore and refurbish a variety of items including furniture. In addition, Nathan is an avid drummer, playing at his church and in a band when he has time available. He is a ‘movie nut’ and loves to see who can figure out a movie name or actor/actress from quotes or scene references. Members of Grace Community Church, the family is involved in various causes. Through a partnership with CLD, Nathan also volunteers with St. Paul Children’s Foundation.

“Nathan always has a positive attitude and is ready to help a teammate. He is dependable, prompt and always in a good mood.”

Judy O’Neal, VP/Loan Document Specialist, Whitehouse CLD

“Nathan is one of the ‘leads’ in CLD. He is a quiet leader, leading by example. His calm demeanor draws the respect of his peer and he is looked to by many in his department for solutions. We are fortunate to have him on the CLD team.”

Mike Gunnels, SEVP/Chief Credit Officer, Whitehouse

“Nathan is the kind of employee every manager dreams of having! He has a ‘can do’ attitude and will assist you in any way that he is able. He is a strong, capable leader within his group and CLD as a whole. I am so fortunate to have him on my team.”
