Austin Bank Presents $1,000 Check to Rusk High School Band
December, 2007
Austin Bank partnered again this year with KLTV in the East Texas High School Battle of the Bands contest.
The Battle of the Bands contest is featured during the high school football season and promoted in the Friday night Red Zone sports show each week on KLTV. This contest is for fun and presents the opportunity for the school and community to get involved and show support for their local high school band.
East Texas marching high school bands were grouped together in an 11 week voting contest. Bands were grouped by similar size districts so the opportunity to win is fair to everyone. Each week, the band with the most votes won the weekly trophy and qualified for the finals in week 11. The finals included voting for the weekly winning bands to decide the champion of the Battle of the Bands.
As Sponsor, Austin Bank offered three cash prizes to the top three high school bands:
- First Place prize of $1,000 went to Rusk High School band
- $500 Second Place to Mineola High School band
- $250 Third place was awarded to Winona High School band
This was Austin Bank’s second year to present checks to area high school bands.
Austin Bank is a community bank with an excess of $800 million in assets. Headquartered in Jacksonville, Texas, Austin Bank serves the needs of East Texas families and businesses with 23 locations in nine counties.
