Austin Bank Announces Promotions

Austin Bank Chairman, Jeff Austin Jr., announced at the March Board of Directors meeting the promotion of Jeff Austin III to Vice Chairman of the Board, John P. Williams to Chief Operating Officer, Larry Bolton to Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer, Billy Mullins to Senior Executive Vice President, Operations & Risk Management, Linda Douglas to Executive Vice President, Director of Retail Banking, Jason Petersen to Executive Vice President-Regional President, Charles R. (Rick) Waldrop to Executive Vice President-Regional President, Glenn Bass to Executive Vice President-Deposit Operations and Todd Burton to Executive Vice President-Controller
Jeff Austin III, Vice Chairman of the Board, a fourth generation banker, has been in banking for twenty-four years. He joined Austin Bank in June 2003 as Senior Executive Vice President. Austin is a member of the Board of Directors of Austin Bank, Texas N.A., Austin BanCorp, Inc., First State Bank, Frankston, First State Bank, Athens and Capital Bank, Houston , Texas . Austin previously served in capacities with affiliate institutions as President & CEO of First State Bank, Frankston and as Senior Vice President and Cluster Manager of Austin Bank, Texas N.A., Longview , Texas . He had experience with Capital Bank, Dallas, Texas American Bank, Dallas and Wells Fargo Bank, Monterey , California . After attending Southern Methodist University, he received his BS and MBA from the University of Texas at Tyler . Austin is also a graduate of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU, Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program and Leadership Tyler Class 15.
Austin currently serves as Chairman of the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce, President of the East Texas Area Council of Boy Scouts and Chairman of Texas Bankers Association Service Company Board of Directors. He is a member of the University of Texas at Tyler Business School Advisory Board, University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler Research Council, Trinity Mother Frances Hospital Foundation Board, Tyler Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors and the Texas Lyceum. Austin was also recently appointed by Governor Rick Perry as Chairman of the newly formed Northeast Texas Regional Mobility Authority. He was a member of the Texas Department of Transportation's Regional Mobility Authority Advisory Committee and past president of Rotary Club of Jacksonville. Austin has two daughters and is a member of Christ Episcopal Church.
John P. Williams, Chief Operating Officer, began his banking career in l973. In 1987, he was named President/CEO and Director of Texas American Bank-Prestonwood and Texas American Bank- Plano . In 1991, Williams joined the Austin family banks as President/CEO and Director of the First National Bank of Whitehouse and in 1999 was promoted to Senior Executive Vice President/Director of Austin Bank. He attended Louisiana State University , Northwestern State University and is a graduate of the American Institute of Banking, Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU and National Commercial Lending School in Norman , Oklahoma . Williams serves on the Board of Directors for Austin BanCorp Inc., Austin Bank, Texas N.A. and Trinity Mother Frances Hospital Foundation Board
Larry Bolton, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer, will lead the lending and business development activities for Austin Bank's twenty-one locations. He joined Austin Bank in June 2003 as Regional President of the Tyler/Smith County Area. Bolton has over thirty years bank management experience. Prior to Austin Bank, Bolton served as president of Bank One in Tyler and president/CEO of First Interstate Bank of Jacksonville . Bolton currently serves on the University of Texas at Tyler Business School Executive Advisory Council, Board of Directors for Smith County Revolving Loan Fund, Tyler City Tax Abatement Review Committee, Heart of Tyler Board, Chairman of the Smith County Tax Abatement Review Committee and serves as an Advisory Director for Austin Bank, Texas N.A. Bolton is a graduate of Jacksonville High School , Lon Morris College , Sam Houston State University with a degree in Finance and the Southwestern School of Banking at SMU.
Billy Mullins, Senior Executive Vice President, Operations & Risk Management , has over thirty years of banking experience and has been with Austin Bank since 1984. In addition to risk management, Mullins will assume responsibility for centralized operations in Longview and Whitehouse. In 1999, Mullins was elected Executive Vice President over Audit, Compliance/Loan Review and assumed responsibility for Loan Administration in July 2004. He is a graduate of Carthage High School , North Texas State University with and Degree in Finance and the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University . Mullins serves as an Advisory Director for Austin Bank, Texas N.A.
Linda Douglas, Executive Vice President, Director of Retail Banking , has been given the responsibility for the day to day operations of the retail branch network in Austin Bank's twenty-one locations. She has been with Austin Bank for eight years and has over twenty-four years bank management experience. Douglas was Vice President/Manager of the Austin Bank Van office before being named Executive Vice President/ Director of Retail Banking. She is a graduate of Jacksonville High School and Tyler Junior College . Douglas is a resident of Van where she is very active in civic and community affairs.
Jason Petersen, Executive Vice President-Regional President, has been promoted to Austin Bank Regional President over the Longview and Marshall offices. Petersen joined Austin Bank in 1987. Since that time he as been a Bookkeeper, Teller, Compliance Officer, Commercial Lender and Senior Vice President / Manager of the Longview offices. Petersen is a Hallsville Independent School Board Trustee, Hallsville Education Foundation Board Member, Harrison County Appraisal District Board Member and Junior Achievement Board Member. He is President of the Hallsville Baseball Association and Hallsville Hoops Association. Petersen is a graduate of Hallsville High School and Stephen F. Austin University .
Charles R. (Rick) Waldrop, Executive Vice President-Regional President, began his career with Austin Bank in 1997 as Vice President/Manager of the Timpson office. In 2000, Waldrop was named Vice President/Manager of the Austin Bank Rusk office. Waldrop currently serves in the supervisory position for eleven of the Austin Bank locations. He has served on the Rusk Economic Development Board and as member of Rusk Rotary Club. Waldrop has over twenty-five years of commercial lending and bank management experience. He is a graduate of Longview High School and Texas A&M University with a degree in Agricultural Economics.
Glenn Bass, Executive Vice President-Deposit Operations, has over thirty years bank management experience. He joined Austin Bank in 2000 as Senior Vice President with responsibilities for Technology, Centralized Customer Service, Telephone Care Center , Facilities and Security. In addition, Bass has recently assumed the responsibility for Retail Support. Bass is a graduate of Whitehouse High School and received his BBA and MBA from the University of Texas At Tyler . He is also a graduate of the University of Michigan Graduate School of Bank Management. Bass is a past member of the Tyler Noon Lion's Club, served as a Loaned Executive in the first year program of the United Way of Tyler/Smith County Loaned Executive Program and is active in New Harmony Baptist Church .
Todd Burton, Executive Vice President-Controller, has been with Austin Bank for twenty-two years. In 1983, a week after graduating from Jacksonville High School , Burton began his banking career with Austin Bank. He continued to work for the bank while attending Lon Morris College and the University of Texas at Tyler where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree. In 1987, Burton was promoted to Assistant Cashier and to Senior Vice President-Controller in 1999 over the Accounting Department in the Austin Bank Corporate office in Jacksonville . Burton is an accomplished pianist playing for the Cherokee Civic Theatre, Civic Chorus and area churches.
