
Three Austin Bank Employees Receive Promotions

Austin Bank Vice Chairman Jeff Austin, III recently announced the career promotions of three Jacksonville employees – Freida Scully, Alisha Matejka and Crystal Bateman.
“These are three highly skilled, knowledgeable employees who are a valuable part of the Austin Bank team,” said Austin. “Freida’s work Treasury Management and the lending work handled by Alisha and Crystal are instrumental in providing our customers with community banking satisfaction.”

Freida Scully, the bank’s Treasury Management Officer, was promoted to Vice President. Scully has been with Austin Bank since August 2003. Prior to that, she was an Account Relationship Manager for Aurum Technology in Plano, TX and worked for Electronic Data Services.
Scully serves on the Board of Directors of the Jacksonville Literacy Council which covers all of Cherokee County. She participates in the organization’s fund raising efforts and its annual Corporate Spelling Bee. Scully also helped organize and start an ESL class at her church for Hispanics within the community.

Alisha Matejka, a Community Lender in Jacksonville, was promoted to Assistant Vice President. Matejka has been with the Austin Family of banks since 1993 when she began her banking career in the bookkeeping department at the First State Bank in Athens. She was promoted to Loan Assistant and Lender in 2004. Matejka is a graduate of Neches High School and has attended Lon Morris College and Texas Tech University.
A resident of Jacksonville, she has a daughter, Caitlyn, and one son, Westin.
Matejka is a member of the Jacksonville Kiwanis.

Crystal Bateman, a Loan Assistant, was promoted to Administrative Officer. Bateman began her career in banking with Austin Bank in 2004 as a teller in Whitehouse. In the fall of 2004, Crystal transferred to the Jacksonville office to work with the lending staff. Prior to joining the bank she was employed with a CPA firm in Tyler.
Bateman has attended the Austin Bank Community Lending School, the Jacksonville Leadership Program, and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Tyler with a major in finance.
Crystal and her husband, Jarrod, have one daughter, Brilyn. She is a member of the Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Rusk.
