This month’s Star nomination form included the quote “to be successful in business, it takes all pieces working together as a team.” The leadership in our Emory office counts themselves as privileged to have this month’s Star on their team. We are proud to announce Maria Hernandez, Customer Service Representative, as Star of the Month for April.
Maria has been a Bank employee for almost seven years, beginning her career as a Teller before a promotion to CSR in 2008. In 2013, she earned her certification as a Certified Customer Service Representative through the ABA Institute of Certified Bankers. Maria is a team player, very committed to her job, and helps with any task that is asked of her. “She has been a tremendous help to me since I came to Emory,” states John Mebane, VP/Location President, Emory. “She is always ready to help with whatever is needed.” John continued to share that while his loan assistant is his ‘right hand’, Maria has been his ‘left’. He says, “She keeps me lined out on a lot of the operations items as well as assisting with my Spanish speaking customers.”
You will find Maria at the front desk as you enter the Emory office with her beautiful smile and a warm greeting. Emory is currently 5th bank wide in account openings and Maria has opened a majority of those accounts. The office also recently received a very good rating on their compliance audit, and Margie Allen, Retail Office Manager, says “Maria had a tremendous role in making that happen.” Not only well respected by her co-workers, the customers of Emory love and trust Maria, even waiting until she returns to the office from lunch to have her handle their business.
Family is very important to Maria. She is very devoted to her parents, brothers and sisters. Maria and her husband, Rafael, live in Sulphur Springs and have a one year old son, Nicholas. They are members of St. James Catholic Church. Maria loves to shop, and travels to Dallas on the weekends with Rafael to shop, watch movies and spend time together.
